Marcus Sedgwick
Marcus's first book, FLOODLAND, was published by Orion Children's Books in 2000, and won the Branford-Boase Award for best debut children's novel. WITCH HILL followed in 2001, and was nominated for an Edgar Allan Poe Award, the Independent Reading Association Award and the Portsmouth Book Award. In 2002 The DARK HORSE was shortlisted for the Guardian Children's Fiction Prize, The Carnegie Medal and the Blue Peter Book Award.
The BOOK OF DEAD DAYS was nominated for the Guardian Award, and was also shortlisted for the Sheffield Book Award and the Edgar Allan Poe Award.
THE FORESHADOWING was nominated for various awards, and then Marcus had some fun with the vampire legend with MY SWORDHAND IS SINGING, which won the Carnegie Shadowing vote and the Booktrust Teenage Book Award. It now has a sequel; THE KISS OF DEATH.
Marcus's next book BLOOD RED, SNOW WHITE - a mixture of fairy tale, spy thriller and love story set during the Russian Revolution, was shortlisted for the Costa Award.
Marcus's latest book for older children is REVOLVER, published in the UK in July 2009, which has been longlisted for the Guardian Children's Book Prize.
FLOOD AND FANG, the first in a series for younger readers, The Raven Mysteries featuring the spooky Otherhand family, was published in March 2009. GHOSTS AND GADGETS followed in October 2009 and the third book in the series, LUNATICS AND LUCK will be published in March 2010.
Pete Williamson
Pete Williamson is the illustrator of the Raven Mysteries series and has been working in both animation design and illustration for many years. He has created twelve children's picture books to date and has also illustrated a variety of children's novels. Pete is happiest working in the world of black and white, alongside the spooky, the gothic and the weird, so he feels right at home in the grounds of Otherhand Castle and looks forward to bringing the future adventures of Edgar and the Otherhands to life!
